Rural Italy

Searches for rural Italy have grown nearly ninefold in a year. Most of what they return is photography. This is the other thing: a measured read on villages small enough to be called rural and still awake enough to live in — services, access, vitality, climate, connectivity, air.

How this list is ordered

Weighted for whoever fits best

This list is not tuned to one kind of mover. Each village is ranked by its strongest persona score, so a place that suits a remote worker and a place that suits a retiree can both earn a high slot.

A note on the data

Coverage is shown beside every score because they are not the same claim. A 88 built from eight measured axes is not the 88 you get from four. Where an axis has no trustworthy data it is dropped and the remaining weights are renormalised — never filled with a zero.
